"What a mess."

Benjamin Carver sighed gently as she crouched on the concrete floor of the old, abandoned steel mill and examined the soaked in bloodstains. The police report fluttered gently in her hand as the cold air blew through the barely insulated and badly sealed building. It didn't even need the front doors opened for the whole area to be cold as hell, but open they were to try and remove some of the nasty smell.

And by god, it was nasty.

But that's what you got when corpses rotted on steel hooks for days.

Ben stood once more, sighing deeply. Looking over the police report, she read out some of the details to her partner. Ben voice, deeper than would normally be expected and raspy, reverted about the empty steel mill as she spoke, "Two bodies recovered, a man and a woman of roughly the same age, killed roughly the same time, mangled beyond recognition. Coroner believes there were more bodies from the amount of blood, at least one was hung on a hook here for a while and removed."

Sighing, Ben stopped reading and looked around the room. Blood was all over the floor, and on the walls in a few places, and supposedly it was almost all contaminated from someone pouring bleach all over the floor and promptly leaving. Rubbing her temples, Ben asked Val, "Do you have any initial thoughts?"

Valeria Hawthorne didn’t have a weak stomach by any means, but even she had to admit that the smell was pretty nauseating. She covered her mouth as she sighed, walking around the edge of the bleach and blood concoction that spilled across the floors. It was sticky and mostly dry by this point, and flaking in some, but she still didn’t trust it with the new black shoes she was wearing. They’d come out of her own pocket so she was highly reluctant to get them dirty, especially with bleach and blood.

She distantly heard Benny ask her a question and tuned back in. “Sorry? Oh, right, initial thoughts. Uhmmm. It looks like, well. There are some footprints, though they’re distorted by the bleach. I would call it a man, judging by the sizing. So at least one person contaminated the crime scene. Probably multiple, though, if one of the bodies was either claimed or somehow rescued? Does that sound about right?”

She looked back at Benny, her auburn hair falling in small pieces from the messy bun she’d thrown her hair up in. It wasn’t a messy bun in a way that was stylish, but rather almost lazy. She scanned the floor and scratched the side of her head. She moved toward the walls, where there was a small amount of blood on the wall. After a moment, she nodded and pulled out a flashlight, shinning it directly on the blood. No shine. It was dried completely and judging by the floor, no bleach had been poured on it.

“Whoever did this… they were in a hurry. They only did the floor, not the walls. And I doubt they were the original perpetrators of the murders. This looks like an attempt to maybe cover up or destroy a crime scene to keep someone from being identified? She asked it in the form of a question, her eyes a bit wide as she looked back up to Benny.
