Throughout time, there have always been three Incarnations:
The Fury, The Beast, The Scholar
Throughout time, there have always been three Roles:
The Hunter, The Hunted, The Arbiter
Time changes, once cycle closing in on the next. The Incarnations never change, nor do the Roles, but which of them stands in which place is determined anew, every time they are reborn.
And reborn they are, again and again, across the vastness of the world and the vastness of time itself. When all have ended, they will come again - rising up from infancy, they will know their place, they will know their purpose.
They will know one another.
Always, they will know one another. Fate will bring them together, somehow, in some way, enacting the roles they have played throughout history. In some eras, their powers shape the world around them. In others, they remove themselves from the greater world and carry out their acts in relative seclusion, caring only for one another.
One must kill. One must die. Everything else is mutable. In some eras, they have died together. In others, one has lived on beyond the rest, until they too live no more, or wish to live no more - and then once again, things start over.
They cannot resist the call any more than they can resist the presage of time. Yet, despite all those deaths that have come between them, they are all too knowing that there will never be anyone else who truly understands them. That is why they must find each other, that is why they must go through it, again and again and again.
That is the Impulse.
