Aibek was little more than a bundle of tears the night he was found. Dropped off at the steps of the orphanage under a watchful full moon, clutching a pearlescent pendant in his tiny little hands. The workers struggled to gauge how old he could have been, so small for a Firbolg infant, the best guess was no more than a couple of weeks.
Yet, the little man grew fast. He was bright, always smiling, with a vivid imagination. Always chatting, even when no one was there. He spoke endlessly of his myriad of friends, most of them imaginary; the things they told him, concepts his caretakers brushed off as meaningless toddler babbles.
By the time he hit double digits, he towered over every other child in the orphanage. He started to have trouble falling asleep at night, seeing figures in the corners of his room staring at him. No one ever took Aibek in, no young couple seemed interested in the enormous child- its the time of dragons, the workers used to say. No one wants a giant-kin in their families, not when the winds of war are starting to blow
