Some beings are born to rule.
Some are born to serve.
And some, a very finite few, are born to be neither.
As you stand in front of the Council Primus, you are reminded of one thing that tugs at your very existence:
You are only here because of HIM.
One of the members in front of you stands up, snapping you back into reality with a singular grunt.
Right. Now, you're here to meet Netraxis. What are you here to tell him?
He awaits your response with a smile.

Do not give names. Rather, give a singular word about what you will represent in Netraxis's scheme.
Next, give your age. Lying is forbidden.
Now tell him the reason you're here. Why you chose to come to Netraxis, the Monarch of Closed Doors, the Empusa. Tell him why you've came for enlightment. Of course, you're here because you don't know what else to do. You're garbage, and Netraxis is the only person in the OMNIVERSE that will accept you.
Go on then. Give it your best shot.

EDIT: Character Example (short)

Name/Representation: Deceptive
Age: 33
Reason you came to Netraxis: My multiverse has been completely destroyed and utterly decimated by the Omniversal... creature. I need help, and no one believes I should exist because I'm evil. I trick and manipulate people, I steal, I maim. I even kill! But for god's sake, this thing has killed all of my family and friends I thought I had, and now I truly have nothing. Even worse, I have a bounty atop my head. I heard about you, Netraxis, and I was intrigued... So I came here.
Please help me.
Powers/Abilities: Probability Manipulation, but only to a small degree
Friends/Family: None. Not anymore.

Kulanharse, the planet of broken dreams, is where you are located. You found it on a previous starchart, or maybe some loner in the galaxy spread a rumor and you heard. It is a planet of massive cities, almost as massive as the ego of the political parties it houses. But what most people visit for - mind you, the locals don't really care - is for Netraxis. Many rumors have been spread about him. How he can make massive civilizations crumble and make small men into something great. You're here because you never thought yourself worthy. Netraxis, however, does.
But always be careful what you wish for: Netraxis is a mysterious being. What will you give him in return?

I'm willing to be intrigued! Do you have more details about the setting? It seems like sci fi / political dystopia, what else is going on in the world / universe? Do you have a plot in mind for what's going to happen, or any goals the characters might be going for?

As for the setting: it is a political dystopian reality. Many multiverses have been destroyed by a mysterious entity, and it seems the only person that actually knows the source is a being named Netraxis. One of the multiverses that was consumed by the being was yours, and so you left, having no other choice. After hearing about Netraxis, you travel to Kulanharse in hopes of being enlightened by Netraxis.
You're "trash", so to speak, and this one man in the omniverse is the only one that can redeem you and your dignity.
But his deeds are not done without a price.

The goals a character might be heading towards with this RP plot would most likely be redemption. They want to figure out who destroyed their home and redeem themselves in the process. Maybe a cross-dimensional organization is formed to find the being that eats multiverses before he takes it too far. On the other hand, maybe you're a spy that doesn't really need redemption or anything of the like; you're simply there to find out who Netraxis is, this mysterious figure who claims to know the secrets of the Omniverse.
Overall, the RP could go many ways, and I'd prefer it if there was a group of players centering around the story, as I'd be willing to be the one to DM it. Of course, that isn't the only thing I'm looking for: a 1 on 1 RP is just as fun. Thanks for the questions!

Do you have a character you'd be playing? Maybe it'd help if there were an example to look at to help determine what we'll be doing. I'm willing to consider a group thing but I don't really like 1 on 1 so we'll see what happens.

As for a character I'd be playing, I wouldn't necessarily be controlling any certain character, I'd be controlling everything outside of the groups characters: Netraxis, the Omniversal Monster, bartenders, innkeepers, aliens, enemies (such as calbo, buol, etc.), and other NPCs that might be used. That being said, I can, of course, give an example of a character sheet that someone would likely fill out. I will edit the original post and have that up soon... Hopefully. I am being sorta lazy as of right now. :P

Ah, I see. That's probably going to be a pass from me then - I'm not really a fan of the more DM+group style of RP. Hope it works out for you, though!

Could you perhaps elaborate on what kind of RPs you generally like to do, be it 1on1, DM, group, etc? Because I can always tweak a few things if it means I can pique your interest.

Sure! Let me start with the caveat that this answer is for me, personally - not for everyone else on the site! So, there might be others who have different things they like to do, and there's no wrong way to RP. I'm just one person, after all!

For me, what I'm looking for in an RP is a midsize group - somewhere between 4 and 7 is usually good, because it's a good balance of having enough characters to make things interesting but not so many that it's hard to keep track of.

I look for RPs where the characters are expected to be roughly the same "level" in terms of abilities or experiences. They may all do different things (this one is a medic, this one is a sharpshooter, etc), but there's no significant power imbalance.

I'm also looking for a general plot to start with - that's not saying I need everything scripted out - in fact, I don't like that - but something like "our goal is to take the One Ring to Mordor. We will travel through many different lands and encounter opposition along the way from orcs and goblins and fell beasts."

I like a world setting with a decent amount of detail on what species or nations or such are available, what sorts of magic or technology exist, that sort of thing - because I think that helps build a solid foundation to determine what sort of characters might be fun in the setting.

And lastly, I'm looking for the RP to be run by someone who's engaged with things. That may mean someone I've RPed with before in other things and I've got a good idea of their style, or it may be someone who's putting themselves out there and getting invested in other RPs rather than sitting back and waiting for players to join their thing without reciprocating. Discord is nice but it's not necessary, but I do like to get an idea of the person outside of just a request thread.

Hopefully some of that's helpful! And like I said, everyone's different, so you get to decide what you're looking for and what's important to you. :)

Sorry, haven't been on in a while. This is very insightful info, thanks for spending the time to write it. I'll be going now, to see if I can fit in a roleplay request somewhere.
