The Anti-Meta Militia is a loose organization of volunteer civilians, former military servicepeople, gangbangers, gun runners, and contract killers all gathered under one roof. The peace among them is kept stable and strong by the presence of their leader, the Meta known as Mary Rodriguez. Initially a grassroots movement in Pittsburgh alone, they've grown large enough to begin spreading out further in the state of Pennsylvania. Soon, they'll move into nearby city centers as well.
The Militia works in protection. They actively interfere with gun running, drug smuggling, and other criminal organizations. Although their backgrounds are often unsavory, the Militia tends to improve the areas in which they operate on the baseline that they oppose most crime and violence. But protecting against criminals isn't their main function. Their main function is protecting homes and businesses from metas. While the average civilian meta is usually left alone, meta 'heroes' and meta 'villains' are indistinguishable to the Militia.
In their eyes, heroes and villains alike have only one of two options. Jail or death.
The Militia is divided into three divisions. The first is known as 'Fresh Meat.' Their armaments are a standard array of hodge podge melee weapons, old semi-auto rifles, and cheap armor ordered off temu. Each new member is required to source their own material. This group consists of hundreds of men and women. There's no punishment for Fresh Meat leaving after joining, so long as they don't form a counter group or pose a threat to the main Militia.
Once a member proves themselves loyal to Mary, they are moved into one of the other two divisions. The main division is known as 'Reliables.' Reliables, if they do not have better equipment, are better armed by Mary and better trained. Veterans of a handful of conflicts, Reliables lead squads of Fresh Meat and make sure no one gets too rowdy. There are a few dozen Reliables, and Mary trusts them well.
If the Fresh Meat is particularly skilled, violent, trustworthy, and/or secretly a meta, Mary takes an interest in pushing them toward the final division. The 'Inner Circle.' Members of the Inner Circle are named NPCs, complex fighters, and Player Characters that have worked their way up in the organization. Members of the 'Inner Circle' are considered high powered fighters, meta or not. They are not to be taken lightly.
